CMAAA – L’équipe des cadets AAA au «Fall Fest» de Clifton au New Jersey
Les 4, 5 et 6 Novembre derniers marquaient la participation des cadets AAA au tournoi «Fall Fest», événement tenu annuellement par la «North Eastern Basketball Association».
Dès leur match d’ouverture de tournoi l’équipe inscrivit une victoire électrisante au compte de 51 à 50 contre l’équipe hôte du tournoi, North Eastern, en inscrivant le panier final et déterminant sur les tous derniers instants de la rencontre. La rencontre fût une lutte acharnée entre les formations qui s’échangèrent alternativement un mince avantage du pointage tout au long du match.
La seconde partie devait s’avérer encore plus intense et difficile contre les «Tigers» de l’Hudson Valley, les champions éventuels du tournoi. Après un départ hésitant qui permettait un avantage de 22 aux Tigers, les Cougars réussirent à se ressaisir et travaillèrent d’arrache pieds afin de revenir dans le match; leurs efforts leur permirent de réussir à fermer l’écart avec l’adversaire pour un bref instant à seulement un point avant de devoir constater au tableau indicateur le résultat final de 55 – 50 à l’avantage des Tigers.
Les rencontres du samedi terminées, revues et digérées, l’équipe a su bien profiter d’une immersion style centre-ville New York, en s’inititant à la trépidité de la ville entre autre sur Time Square et en partageant le souper d’équipe chez Planet Hollywood! Bien entendu, cette sortie ne pouvait être complète sans une visite au NBA Store et au Nike Store!…

C’est sur cette note que les élans du dimanche matin, complétés par les nouvelles acquisitions de la veille, leurs permettaient une bonne démonstration d’efforts et de combativité, en mettant de l’avant un jeu de transition incisif; les Cougars sortiront récompensés de leurs efforts déployés en gagnant 56 – 31 contre les représentants de Renaissance Youth Sports. Une note positive pour compléter un week-end engagé et bien rempli, tant sur les planches qu’en visites!… Meilleures salutations et remerciements aux joueurs et leurs accompagnateurs!

Cadets Masculin 3A at the Fall Fest Tournament in Clifton New Jersey
The cadet 3A Cougars made a weekend trip to New Jersey November 4, 5 and 6 to participate in the “fall Fest”, a tournament held annually by the North Eastern Basketball Association. The goal of the weekend was to prepare for the regular season as well as determine how well they match up against some U.S. competition. The weekend was a resounding success, the team returning well prepared for their season to begin in the Montreal Basketball League, as well as feeling good about their performance vs. American competition.
The team opened the tournament with an exciting 51-50 win over the host North Eastern team, scoring the winning basket with time running out. It was a back and forth battle, with the lead changing hands several times during the game.
The second game would prove to be even tougher, going up against the Hudson Valley Tigers, the eventual winners of the tournament. After a slow start which gave the Tigers a 22 point advantage, the Cougars decided “enough is enough” and clawed their way back into the game, getting within 1 point before finally losing 55-50.
The Saturday games completed, the team was left with ample time to hop on a local bus to downtown New York City for some sightseeing and shopping. A ten minute walk from the bus station found the team in Times Square, where they enjoyed a team dinner at Planet Hollywood. Right after, it was time to shop! Key stops were, of course, the NBA Store and the Nike Store.
For their last game on Sunday, not only did the Cougars display their newly purchased shoes and accessories, but also a preview of their season to come. The team came roaring out at the start, playing ferocious defense and fantastic transition basketball, running the floor with abandon. The result was a 56-31 win over Renaissance Youth Sports.
Everyone returned home to St. Bruno safe and sound, happy with a terrific weekend both on and off the court. A big thanks to all of the players and their parents!
